Honouring the Grammichelesi who settled in Victoria over the last century
by documenting their individual and shared settlement experiences and stories.
We are a small group of Grammichelese-Australians who are collecting our community history and stories.
We at Grammichelesi of Victoria have tried to get all historic details correct, but there will inevitably be errors, or ommissions, so please be patient and use the Forms page, or our email address, to send correct information through.
Recognising Courage, Sacrifices and Legacy
We believe it is time to record, recognise and honour the individuals and families who migrated to Victoria from Grammichele. These stories reveal their courage, sacrifice and resilience and the foundations they laid for present and future generations. By conserving their legacy, we also strengthen our connection to modern day Grammichele and deepen our understanding of its historical and social significance in our lives.
We are doing this by weaving together a rich and cohesive account of the settlement journey of the individuals and families who migrated to Victoria from Grammichele. We are drawing on historical records and documentation, oral and family histories, artefacts, memorabilia, photos, and memories. We are setting this against the backdrop of socio-economic polices in the Sicilian and Australian context.

Our Services

About Us
Grammichelesi of Victoria is a web site established by the decendants of immigrants from the town of Grammichele in Sicily, Italy, to capture and grow the history of these pioneers.

As Grammichele is a unique town built on the hexagon, so are its people similarly unique. People who left Grammichele behind them in their quest to improve their lives in a totally new world. The opportunities that their eyes and minds pursued did not extinguish the memory of Grammichele from their hearts.

It is this spirit of adventure and achievement that has driven this project; a project that is intended to establish a legacy of all those hard-working Grammicelesi for their children and future generations.
